THE FACEBOOK GROUPS FOR PRESENTING THE PAST IN BULGARIA – TYPOLOGY, CREATORS AND AUDIENCE

Abstract
Nowadays the interest in the past grows bigger everyday. The reasons are different, and one of which may be the aspiration to rethink the present trough the prism of the past. The social media are taking up larger and bigger part of people’s lives for exchanging ideas, information, memories and etc., along with creating interest groups. On Facebook, there are various groups that represent Bulgaria’s past. The initiators are mostly historians, or local historians, others are librarians, people who collect photographs, documents and different artifacts. As for the members of those groups, most of them are either people who are interested in a specific time period of Bulgaria’s history, or in the past of a particular town or region. Some of the creators of such groups are pretending to present a different point of view on the official history.
