The altar cross in the Alexander Nevsky cathedral church: a History in our time
Abstract
This paper is dedicated to the altar cross from the central altar of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral Church in Sofia. Its restoration in the beginning of 2008 has been dealt with: the materials it has been made of have been described as has its decoration and dedication inscriptions. An attempt has been made to outline its artistic merits.
The questions of authorship have been put forward, the time taken for its making, its evaluation in terms of money, the donation and the donors, latter amongst the Armenian community in Bulgaria. Special attention has been devoted to the initiatives and decisions of the Church Board of Trustees of the Armenian Temple in Sofia.
