Антропология/ Anthropology gives strong preference to electronic submission.

Articles should be between 6,000 and 9,000 words (including notes), although longer texts may be considered.

Each manuscript must be accompanied by a 100-150 words abstract and 5-6 keywords  to appear at the beginning of the article. Place the title and the authors name, institutional identification and address on a separate cover page. Submitted manuscripts are circulated for review without the authors name or institutional identification.

Transcription from Cyrillic alphabets should follow the scientific style (ISO standard).

Notes should be presented at the end of the article (as Endnotes). They should be enumerated serially. References should be in alphabetical order and typed double-spaced, beginning on a separate sheet at the end of the manuscript.

Citations and References: Citations should be in Harvard style, author, date and page as follows (Herzfeld 1991: 12); if there are two or more authors, separate authors with commas.  Book references should include publisher and place and year of publication; journal references volume number, year and page numbers.

Tables and graphs should be presented on separate sheets at the end of the article, insert a location note, e.g. table 1 here, at the appropriate place in the text. Graphs should be prepared so that they are suitable for photographing. Authors will receive proofs of their article before publication and are requested to proof-read and return them within one week.

Review and Publication Process

A full double-blind refereeing process is used that comprises the following steps.

  • Paper is sent to 2 reviewers for review.
  • The reviewers’ recommendations determine whether a paper will be accepted; subject to resubmission with significant changes; rejected.
  • For papers which require changes, the same reviewers will be used to ensure that the quality of the revised paper is acceptable.
  • Acceptance letter will be provided to the author(s)
  • Author(s) will be notified of the possible date of publication.
  • One copy of the published journal for each article will be sent to the author(s).

Contributors are usually notified within two months about acceptance for publication. If it is necessary to return manuscripts for changes, authors are furnished with specific recommendations by the reviewers and the Editor. Only manuscripts written in English or Bulgarian will be finally accepted. Responsibility for final decisions on editorial revisions remains with the Editor. Manuscripts will be returned only on request.
