Abstract

Although increasingly gaining in popularity over the past few years, wedding tourism has been insufficiently studied as yet. A number of towns offer opportunities for such tourism as derived from attendance and performance of wedding ceremonies at various culture and history connected sites. Local authorities also provide specific thematic scenarios to be followed in performing the rituals. Wedding tourism contributes to culture and history sites socialization and furthers growing interest in them. On the other hand the celebrations create opportunities for the eventual damage of cultural values. It is very important to find the proper way for the objects to be safe in these conditions. The study purposes involve disclosure of the most popular and frequented wedding tourism locations in Bulgaria’s towns as well as when it is possible the profile of the wedding couples resorting to wedding tourism.
